I'm excited to start working with you!
Before we begin let's go through what you can expect.
Play and enjoy but please get the "sure shot" make sure you have a couple from a sequence and for the rest Play away, it is always better if you try your own position and not shadow me with these as different points of view work better with these. As long as you have sharp and properly exposed shots no rules here. Do not be shy either if you would like to try a pose the couple, have an idea or want to change something in a setup you are more than welcome to throw in your ideas and input
Here you are on your own and pretty much have free reign I will just need the following shots.
Groom Portrait– Close up
Groom Portrait
¾ Groom Portrait – Full length
Groom alone with each groomsman – if time permits an individual portrait shot of each groomsman.
Groom with groomsmen – be creative, if you're stuck for ideas have a look at boy bands and how they are "posed". Please try if time permits take two different variations/locations of this.
Please ask groom and groomsmen to remove these, if they reckon they look too cool with shades take the shot and then do the same minus the shades…also make sure they are not on top of their heads, like an aliceband.
The groom usually has rings, please get the ring shot
Groom buttoning shirt and putting on tie, general getting ready shots.
If the groom is getting ready in an area where there is no light please feel free to ask him to get ready next to the window rather than compensate with flash.
Wherever I am would prefer you to be somewhere else if I am shooting the bride saying vows then please get a few of the groom exchanging vows, if I shoot the bride walking up the aisle and the grooms reaction to her then please try and capture the bride approaching the groom from the front.
If you do get to the church before me please ask the priest if there are any rules about shooting in his Church, I ask the client to do this beforehand but they often forget, and there is nothing more embarrassing than being shouted at by the priest.
- Please shoot in RAW
- Please do not try boost saturation in-camera.
- Unless playing with lowlight situations - Please make sure that the ISO setting you use is not too grainy.
- Please do not shoot on Black and White
- Please do not show the client pictures on the camera, on the day. I know I do this sometimes (very rare) but I know what type of images I will hand over. The reason behind this: is that clients may expect that specific image and if it was not included on their final selection, it gets tricky to keep track of which photos they are referring to amongst the thousands of images taken.
- Try and get as many candid/photojournalistic shots in as possible.
- Please shoot more than you are used to. I tend to get between 2000-3000 images from an 8 hour wedding.
- If shooting outside please watch out for direct sun and shadows on faces.
- I personally try and avoid flash but you can shoot however you feel comfortable.
-If you do use your speedlight, please make sure it's never pointed at the subject (even with TTL)
- Please don’t make contact with the clients after the event, should you be contacted by the clients by some reason, please refer all communication to me.
Occasionally I have more than one inquiry per day and require the help of another primary shooter. This will not include any editing, client management, keepsake delivery etc.
If this is something you'd be interested in, please let me know if you're comfortable shooting a wedding on your own, and how many weddings you've shot (as a lead photographer).
Kindly make your invoice out to Beyond Photography SA and include the date that you worked, name of the couple and venue you shot. Full payment will be made once images have been delivered. Please keep a back up copy of your images for at least 4 weeks before deleting the files.
The images you shoot will be selected and processed under the Beyond Photography brand. I will, where possible or where applicable, credit you to your image, I do not always credit the Second shooter/assistant when posting on my blog as in the past it has interfered with the write-up but if referring to a particular image you will be credited
Should the image be entered into any competition by the client (I will not purposely enter your images) but if the client has entered your image, then any branding or exposure will go to Beyond Photography. The image will be credited to you and if there are any prizes allocated to the photographer then you are welcome to accept this but any publicity goes to Beyond Photography.
You may use your pics for your portfolio, blog etc. Once the client gallery has been delivered (please allow 10-12 weeks for this).
